Are you using clearblue advanced? I use both the advanced and the strips. Clearblue tests for estrogen as well as the LH surge. When you get the flashing smiley face it detects a spike in estrogen which occurs before your LH surge is my understanding. I would just follow the instructions for whatever product you're using.The flashing smiley face is a rise in estrogen which is usually detected prior to ovulation to make you aware you are closer to ovulation but you still need to carry on testing till you see the solid smiley face (LH surge).Women do not ovulate in each month.
